Customs Auditor at the Swedish Customs
Do you want to work in an authority that makes a difference in society and have interesting tasks within trade and customs management? Do you want to combat economic crime and criminal economy? The Swedish Customs works to ensure that only approved goods pass through Sweden's and the EU's borders, and we are now looking for someone who wants to work with reviewing companies that import goods from other countries.
The operational activities of the Swedish Customs are divided into four departments: control, revenue, intelligence, and customs criminal department.
The Revenue Department has a broad mandate within three operational areas: permits, revenue monitoring, and post-control. The operational work of the Revenue Department is carried out within four geographical units: south, west, east, and north. These units collaborate nationally and work with the entire department's mandate. The department is responsible for ensuring that the correct customs and other fees are charged for goods entering and leaving the country, as well as monitoring compliance with import and export regulations.
The position of customs auditor is located at the Revenue Department of the Swedish Customs in Stockholm, Norrköping, Gothenburg, or Malmö.
About the position
The task of a customs auditor is to ensure that companies comply with the conditions required for correct customs management, that companies have reported correct customs and other fees, and that goods are not imported/exported in violation of import and export restrictions. The control is carried out through the review of customs documents and the company's accounting. The control is often conducted at the company, but a large part of the work takes place at the offices of the Swedish Customs.
Most of our controls are conducted in collaboration with those being reviewed. However, there may be situations when collaboration ceases, and then the Swedish Customs has the opportunity to secure evidence. We are now looking for individuals with a background as review leaders to be able to conduct evidence securing but also to develop the role of review leader within the Swedish Customs.
As a review leader, you are responsible for applying for evidence securing at the Administrative Court. You make interim decisions on evidence securing and certain decisions on sealing. Furthermore, you make decisions on the confiscation of documents, both physical and digital. You also take in movable property in defense of evidence securing. Evidence securing can occur at, among other places, business premises, operational spaces, or private residences.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree of at least 120 credits or 180 ECTS in the fields of economics, law, social sciences, or political science. Foreign academic degrees must correspond to Swedish standards (Certificate issued by the Swedish Council for Higher Education)
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
- Good ability to express yourself in English, both orally and in writing
- Experience in evidence securing and review leadership
- Swedish citizenship.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Academic qualifications in areas such as accounting, bookkeeping, logistics, business economics, or statistics
- Experience in bookkeeping/accounting
- Experience in customs management
- Good knowledge of Excel and/or other analytical tools
- Experience in teaching or other pedagogical assignments
- Experience in participating in change work
- Experience in customer service and interaction
- Swedish B driver's license (manual).
Personal qualities
As a person, you are responsible and self-driven. You structure your work independently and drive your tasks forward. You want to develop within your profession and are eager to share your knowledge with others.
Furthermore, you are flexible and easily adapt to changing circumstances. You can quickly change your perspective and approach.
You find it easy to work with others. You listen, communicate well, and resolve conflicts constructively.
You are analytical and see logic and connections in complex issues and information. You easily see contexts and make sound judgments.
As an employee at the Swedish Customs, you follow our values characterized by a holistic view, responsibility, and innovation.
We are looking for someone who sees opportunities instead of obstacles. You are courageous and not afraid to make decisions. You are accustomed to stressful environments and can remain calm in pressured situations. The role of review leader places high demands on your ability to collaborate. There may be some travel involved in the position. You thrive in assignments where you have the opportunity to develop yourself and others.
We place great importance on personal suitability!
